Honey Bees

The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa is dedicated to sustainability and protecting honey bees in our city.

In 2010, our rooftop became home to five colonies of busy bees. Though The Brown has hosted royalty upon many occasions, never before have we welcomed five queens at once!

Urban beekeeping is a unique initiative to promote environmental health while the worldwide honeybee population is in decline. The Brown’s efforts “pollinate” beyond our rooftop, we donated hives to the Denver Beekeepers Association to help establish more bee colonies in our city.

While guests enjoy the hotel, our royal bees are busy pollinating Denver and producing honey. After our honey is harvested, it is sold in our coffee shop and at times used in recipes and formulas around The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa.
